An Evening With A Sommelier

The LCA Wine Committee is shaking things up so, sharpen your pencils, or charge your laptops, we are going to kick off the 2023/24 season with an Educational Event.

We have secured Alex Liakopoulos, a certified level 3 WSET, to kick-off the season and prepare us for our upcoming wine tasting events.

An Evening with a Sommelier

Lakeview Community Hall
7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7:00)
$20/person. Participants must be an active Lakeview Member, or a guest of a member.

During this 90-minute session you will learn about:

  • The Sommelier certification process
  • The art of wine tasting (white and red),
  • What to look for when purchasing wine.
  • The significance of glassware

What you need to bring:

  • 4 Wine glasses, 2 white and 2 red will be served
  • Material for note taking. (Optional)

PLEASE NOTE:

Although there will be wine served, this is NOT a wine tasting event. The ONLY food served will be baguette and gluten free crackers, upon request. The focus will be on learning and not comparing or selecting our favorite wine of the evening.

GST and service fee will be added to the final price.

Registration opens Wednesday April 12th and closes Friday May 5th, at 6:00 PM unless there is a sell-out.

NO WALK-INS or LATE REGISTRATIONS will be accepted.

Come celebrate Mardi Gras with a selection of wines presented by Galileo Wines. Enjoy tastings from France, Italy and Argentina. As usual, order forms with great discounted prices will be available during the evening.

Wines are pre-ordered and therefore, NO WALK-INS will be allowed.

Your PayPal receipt is your ticket. Reminders and QR codes will not be sent. The only thing you need to bring is a set of 6 wine glass. Wine glasses will be available for purchase.

Moonlight Skate at the Lakeview Skating Rink

Our Moonlight Skate scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed till next Saturday January 14, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00pm at our outdoor ice rinks.

Please come out to have a leisurely skate, or friendly hockey game, enjoy some music and warm up by the fire. Hot chocolate and snacks will be provided.

Christmas Sip and Social Wine Event

Grab some friends and celebrate being together again this Holiday Season. This informal Wine Tasting event will be a Sip and Social format without presenters. You can wander at will amongst 6 Wine Tasting stations chatting and nibbling as you enjoy a selection of White, Rose and Red wines.

Order forms with discounted prices from Redback Wines will be available during the evening. Orders of less than 1 case will be ready for pick up at Vine Styles (1127b Kensington Rd NW,) and orders of 1 case or more will be delivered on Dec 21st so you can stock up for the holiday season.

We are happy to announce the return of the very popular Wine Lottery! You will have to be at the event to hear the details and enter for your chance to win.
